The sort order of products under our categories on our web site is random with Firefox, but the categories with products are in the correct order with IE, Chrome, etc. This incorrect order with Firefox occurs on various computers, i.e. Windows 7, XP, etc. and is not consistent. To make matters worse, sometimes it is random with Firefox and then returns to being correctly sorted but IE, Chrome, etc. are always in the correct order.

Chosen solution

I get Blue Beauty first when I specify "Default" sort order and Blue Gigantea first when I specify "Price Down" sort order. This appears to be implemented using a cookie so that if I reload the page, the order is not reset to Default.

Edit: However, if I close the tab and open the link again, it does reset to Default.

URL of your website?
Would we need login credentials to get into that part of your website?
Then explain step-by-step how we can replicate that issue.

Or, you could try posting in the Web Development / Standards Evangelism forum at MozillaZine; as this forum is geared towards Firefox users, not web developers. The helpers over there are more knowledgeable about web page development issues with Firefox.

Go to link text The first product listed should be Blue Beauty not Blue Gigantea. On four computers tested with IE, Chrome, etc. it is Blue Beauty is first (as it should be) but on these computers with Firefox (Windows 7, Windows XP ) it is wrong with Blue Gigantea first. Interestingly, tried an iPad using Safari and the first time the order was alright, but when I went back it changed to the incorrect order. And, one of the other computers did the same thing, in that, it displayed the sort order correctly under Firefox but then went to a wrong sort.

Works fine here for me, even after refreshing.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
