After clicking the Green Download button I do not get the popup window to click the "Run". I get a gold bar at the bottom of my screen: "Do you want to open or save Firefox Setup Stub 28_0_exe (276 KB) from download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net? Open, Save, Cancel" Can't click Cancel either cause the whole window is frozen. I have tried everything, "Open" asks what I want to use to open file. "Save", says cannot save. "Retry", it might save, but double clicking either one of those downloaded files only gives me the popup window to Open (using which program) never a "Run" button.

I cleared IE cache also before "Download".

How do I get Firefox. I use Thunderbird with absolutely NO problem.

Thanks for your help.;

Chosen solution

Another possibility is to open the Mozilla FTP website in Windows Explorer and download the Firefox set up file that way.

See "How To Download Firefox On a New Computer Without Using Internet Explorer":

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test in case security software is causing issues.

hello, please see if it is working correctly with the full installer instead that can be obtained from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Hello. Thank you for your reply so quickly. No, that doesn't work either. I have tried that too. But I just tried it again from your link, and the same thing happens as described above. This is strange.

does it make a difference when you right-click the download link and select "save target as" (not sure about the exact wording in IE) to put the setup file on the desktop or another easily accessible place and run it from there?

Philipp, That don't work either. Right click Green Download button, Save Target As, it has "download_html?product=firefox-stub&os=win&lang=en-US".

If I click the Green Download to the next screen, (that gold bar comes up at the bottom) and if I right-click the "if the download does not start click here" I get the Save Target As and when I go to the file and hover over it, it says "Firefox Setup Stub 380_exe(1).380z1y8.partial; Type: Partial Download".

Then the gold bar at the bottom is showing it couldn't be downloaded. Retry doesn't work there either.

Oh well. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

hmm, such download issues might also be a sign of malware being active on the pc - can your try it in windows safemode once as described by cor-el above?

Cor-el, Hello. Yeah, now I'm a Geek! LOL.

I used your first link to download using Windows Explorer. It worked perfectly! Wow. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have never had a problem downloading anything.

Philipp, I really appreciate your help too. I really do not think I have any type of malware. Just scanned last night with Norton Internet Security and Malwarebytes. Only a couple tracking cookies.

Thanks a whole bunch.  :)
