reset printer settings....still no print....plus added items to menu bar...they're gone from bar & customize window...title bar changed
Chosen solution
Firefox by default will "shrink to fit". You can turn that off in Page Setup in a regular window or in Print Preview, but it's difficult to call up Preview in the print-formatted pop-up window because the menu bar and toolbar are suppressed. If this is a frequent problem, you could use another add-on (!) which puts Print, Print Preview, and Page Setup on the right-click context menu.
I haven't used it for a while, but hopefully it still works in Firefox 29: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/printprint-preview/

When you try to print, do you get an error message?
What is missing from your menu bar? As you've noticed, Firefox 29 has a new interface. To re-customize it in the older style, see this article: How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox.
no error message...get a blank page, except for a header. cut, copy, paste is gone from menu bar & customize shows 3 empty squares tool bar background is gone. this my 1st experience with firefox & so far i'm not very impressed.
Firefox doesn't print some pages well, but if you have this problem on all pages, there may be some problem with Firefox's ability to work with your printer driver. If it's only particular pages, can you post the URLs for an assessment?
I'm not clear on what happened with Cut, Copy & Paste: you moved them from the menu drop-down to the toolbar and then they disappeared?
If you return to Customize mode, try clicking Restore Defaults and see whether things return to normal.
When you say "toolbar background" do you mean a theme you were using in an earlier version of Firefox? Otherwise, there's not much to see.
If Firefox is becoming transparent or showing some desktop or showing other display glitches it may be incompatible with your graphics card drivers. The standard workaround for that is to disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics.
3-bar menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This will take effect the next time you exit out of Firefox and restart it.
the only attempt at printing is from hotmail...I need to print part of email message from ebay...i've tried different things & i get a full email page print or nothing...in ie i could highlight text, click print, & click 'selection' in window...worked everytime
tried restore defaults, icons are still gone
For Hotmail/Live/Outlook messages, two suggestions:
(1) Use the print-formatted page, available from the ... menu on the top bar above the message; then cancel the print dialog so you can make you selection; then press Ctrl+p to call up the print dialog again.
(2) If your selection is way down the document, Firefox may insert blank space above it, which is wasteful and may even bump it onto a later page. (This depends on the layout of the page.) To work around this weakness, I suggest the Nuke Anything Enhanced extension. You can right-click your selection and delete everything else on the page, then print normally (i.e., no need to use Print Selection since there's nothing else to omit).

OK, thanks that worked, except it printed in the smallest known font size known to man
