I have no idea where this popup came from. It pops up on all shopping sites such as Amazon and I can't find a procedure to get this annoying thing off my computer.

Lots of info here

Websearch+ by Brand Thunder is a potentially unwanted program, which is promoted via other free downloads, and once installed it will display pop-up advertisments, and change your browser homepage and your browser search engine to websearch.brandthunder.com.
Websearch+ got on your computer after you have installed a freeware software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this browser hijacker.

You should check your Control Panel for anything that you haven't installed yourself and remove it.

You should also remove any extensions from Firefox ([[[Image:new fx menu]] > Addons > Extensions) that you don't recognize.

Two more things and we're done, long process I know. You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this Websearch+ adware. Be very careful what you agree to install.

You can reset the prefs that do are controlled by WebSearch+ to reverse the action

  • Navigate to about:config in your Address Bar
  • Press the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button to proceed
  • Search for websearch and reset each pref by rightclicking > Modify
    • Actually, just search for browser.startup.homepage and reset it (right clicking > Modify)

Last thing! Download ADW Cleaner to wipe out any remnants of it.
