Since a few weeks ago, I have had problems with Firefox "hanging" when trying to access Google sites; this includes typing something into the search window on the address bar. Sometimes, changing the URL from "google.com" to "google.co.uk" or vice versa causes the site to load, but not always, and with Google maps, sometimes the site partially loads - e.g. satellite view and some icons missing. I have never seen this on Firefox with non-Google sites, nor on Chrome/Edge with Google sites. I have tried the other suggestions here, such as disabling anti-virus, clearing proxy (not that I use one anyway) etc, and clearing the DNS and HTTP caches, to no avail. I have no relevant extensions. What is particularly strange is that when a URL is not loading, if I open Chrome and type in that same URL, it will load immediately there and also immediately in Firefox (sometimes needing a refresh). I have seen other reports online of similar issues in recent weeks from other users, which makes me feel that it may be related to a recent Firefox update.

Hi,

Firefox keeps crashing directly at start within seconds. I deleted Firefox and then reinstalled it again with no difference. I took away all my extensions, plugins and so forth. Firefox is updated to the latest version. Reloaded pages and I have minimal programs running in the background. I did malware and virus scans. I still cannot seem to find what the culprit is.

Thanks in advance Louie J

The Firefox Icon has somehow been replaced by a white rectangle containing a smaller blue rectangle inside of it. See screenshots showing the shortcut on my desktop as well as in the task bar. What happened and how do I fix this? I have spent hours multiple days trying to find answers on the web and on my machine. Please help. Thank you.

Recently, when I load a web page in Firefox, it frequently doesn't load the hyperlinks. They just appear as plain text, and I can't click on them.

This doesn't happen in Chrome or Edge.

I'm using Firefox 115.15.0 ESR on one computer, and whatever the latest regular (non-ESR) version is on another. Both are Windows computers. It seems to happen more often if I start scrolling on the web page before it's fully loaded (but this wasn't a problem until a couple months ago).

If I reload the page, the hyperlinks usually work, but sometimes I have to reload twice.

This is the first thing that's ever made me think of switching to another browser since I started using Firefox years ago.

Any idea what's causing this and how I can fix it?

I am working on upgrading our organization from ESR version 115 to 128. While testing, I am experiencing an issue where a new profile is being created and defaulted to on first run after the upgrade. This removes all the bookmarks, themes, extensions, etc. For a technical person like myself, I can easily revert this by going to about:profiles and setting my previous profile back as the default and then restarting Firefox. The issue lies in that this process is not something we can feasibly do for over 1000 people if/when they see this problem. I have been trying to wrap the install with a few commands to back up the previous profiles.ini and put it back after upgrade but this isn't working out too well.

Is there a way to automate keeping whatever profile was being used as the default intact without generating a new one and having it take over?

One thing to note is that we are following CIS guidelines as closely as possible, thus using synced profiles is not an option.
