I've always had an informative single line "bar" at the base of my screen indicating available/open programs, USBs, etc. I don't know what it's called. I don't know why it disappeared today. And . . . I'd appreciate help it getting it to reappear (and learning the correct terminology.) Although in my 90s, I try to keep up with technology as much as possible. Thanks for your help.

Dear support

Whenever I click the URL input field I get a most visited list as drop down menu. The very 1st item is always the 'Fedora project: start page'. This is somehow pinned. I did manage to remove it earlier but now and then with a new version of either fedora or firefox it returns. I searched the net for over an hour now and did not find any solution.

2nd question: How can I delete other URLs in this list?

Thanks.

As noted by others about recently-prior versions of Firefox, version 129 ALSO fails to play videos (on Amazon Prime) at HD even though other browsers, Chrome and Edge as examples, work perfectly well. This problem MAY have started with a fairly recent version of Firefox (like 127 or 128). See the post right here by another user, earlier Firefox version, with the EXACT same problem:

Since 129.01 i cannot play HD Videos on amazon any longer. This Problem happened alot over the years. It really goes on my nerve. The only reason i cannot get rid of spyware like chrome is because its the only method to watch amazon videos reliably. SD only works, Widevine also had an update yesterday, so maybe its part of the problem. Anyway, did a Firefox reset, testet on another windows machine. Does not work anymore. Please fix it.

There's one specific field I fill in very often and for some reason Firefox is really keen on suggesting me two searches that I looked up more than a couple months ago, on a totally different site. I can't even remove these suggestions or add new ones. When I used Vivaldi, it'd learn what I insert (even if it'd end up suggesting tens and tens of options), while Firefox doesn't learn at all.

For sake of an example, let's say that the word I use every day in this field is XYZ. Not even once was it suggested to me, I've only ever gotten the two in the screenshot below instead. And I can't remove them using the Delete key as some other article suggested.

Speaking of which, I just noticed the same thing happen to the subject line in this form 🙃

I'm having trouble using the policies.json file to manage individual profiles on Linux. I've come across sources that suggest placing the distribution/policies.json file in the profile folder should work, but I can't seem to get it to function as expected.

My use case is to create a separate profile that can only connect to localhost.

I have a few questions:

  • Is there a specific way to use policies.json for managing individual profiles on Linux? If so, what is the correct method?
  • Can the location where Firefox looks for the policies.json file be overwritten for a new process? If yes, how can this be achieved?

For over a decade, I trusted Firefox implicitly, believing in your unwavering commitment to user privacy and respect. Today, that trust was shattered when I opened my browser to find ads plastered across my homepage. This isn't just an annoyance; it's a betrayal of the very principles that drew me to your software. You've reduced yourselves to the same level as the data-hungry corporations you once stood against. It's not just disappointing—it's despicable. I will not stand by and accept this violation. Consider this my farewell, as I cannot in good conscience continue to use a product that so blatantly disregards its users. You've lost more than just a customer; you've lost the respect and loyalty of someone who once championed your cause.

I would like to have different default search engines for the URL bar and the search bar. For example have a query typed in the URL bar use DuckDuckGo by default. But a query in the search bar use Google by default. I am aware that it's possible to use shortcut strings, use alt+arrows to cycle through the options, or select a different search engine from the icons. I'd like to be able to set them differently without any of that.

I'm trying to use a service worker to add some additional headers to image and video requests but on Firefox the fetch event is only being invoked for the images and not the videos. On Chrome it is called for both.

I cannot find any documentation that says Firefox does not support service workers for video but this appears to be the case. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

sw.js 'use strict';

self.addEventListener("install", (event) => {

 // Force the newly installed service worker to replace any earlier version
 self.skipWaiting();

});

self.addEventListener("activate", (event) => {

 // Activate the service worker immediately in all clients
 event.waitUntil(self.clients.claim());

});

self.addEventListener('fetch', (event) => {

 console.log(`SW.js: ${event.request.url}`);
 const updatedHeaders = new Headers(event.request.headers);
 //updatedHeaders.set('Accept', '*');
 // Create a new request object with the updated headers
 const updatedRequest = new Request(event.request, {
   headers: updatedHeaders
 });
 event.respondWith(fetch(updatedRequest));

});

Good morning,

I am developing a browser add-on for Firefox. I would like to ask a question. Is it possible to publish the add-on in an unlisted way, but making sure that when it is installed in the browser it always maintains the same internal UUID (which does not correspond to the add-on ID)? If it is not possible to do this by publishing it unlisted, would it be possible to do so by publishing it in your store in a listed way?

I await your kind reply Thank you, best regards
