I have followed instructions and have created an Imap account and kept the old POP account, but I'm now seeing a message about duplicated accounts and cannot get any further.

Were these the instructions you followed? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switch-pop-imap-account Did you remember to disable your POP account?

Hi there Thank you for helping, yes I did, I unchecked those two boxes (check new messages at start up & messages every xx mins) at least.
