well the statement above says it all: every time I start Firefox it opens with that and offers the choice to reopen the last site I visited or a new page. After i choose any of the two t works further correct, but you know, "it is really a bit embarrassing". How can I fix it?

You may have corrupt sessionstore file(s). Delete all sessionstore* files and the sessionstore-backups folder.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.
