I am not able to view or play video's on a particular web site. The web site is The Milwaukee Home Journal, and specifically the Packer football section of the web site. Within that specific section I can access text and video's. While I can view the text of a given article, I can't play the video. I used to be able to do that function, but now I can't. When I called for help with the newspaper, they said when they use my log in, they can access those video's. So, the newspaper said something is wrong with my browser is why I can't view the video portion of a given article. So, can someone from Firefox help? Not sure what I may have to look at or into within my browser to see why I can't view certain video's Thank you.

hi,

Can you post link to the website where the video does not play?

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Thank you for your reply, both of you. After trying to access the video's in safe mode within the site, I was able to see them, albeit extremely slowly. I could then tell, the uBlock add-on was the cause of the issue. Strangely, I used to be able to view those video's on that site, while using uBlock . I guess now I can't? Strange. This is the URL of the site: https://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/. Thank you, FredMcD, and androdebugur.

Disable uBlock for that site. As to why it is now blocking videos, ask its support.

cor-el, thank you for your reply. I contacted the web site, Milwaukee Journal, and they informed me they made a update to their site, where as evidently, you can not have a ad blocker. I used uBlock and as a result, wasn't able to view the video's with it. I can view the video's when I disable it though. So, the issue is with the web site itself, and they informed me they are making changes to their "code" so things work as before. I'll see how that works out? On a separate issue, I noticed when I accessed my add-ons, I have a add-on called No Script. Frankly not sure why, but I have it disabled. I presume because I thought my browser would work better? Any opinion on if I should use that add-on or not, cor-el? Thank you.

I went to the site without any blockers besides my hosts blocker and it works just fine and videos plays fine with audio. Sounds like ublock is part of the cause here if the site has stuff on there ublock blocks then there would be problem. So you need to also contact ublock and tell them it's too aggressive or not use it to get to the site. Site has a right to block your access if you use adblocker as ads or popups is probably is what pays for their site so without those ads those sites would cease to exists and go to a pay access only. That's part of the price to be paid if you want to access those sites without paying for access. Also NS can also cause blocks to site as well. I've used it in the past and it caused more problem then it helped so I stopped using it. If the site has too much ads showing then you should tell them to not use so much ads or popups and see if they will turn them off or not. But as anything website needs revenue to keep it so you can get access to them otherwise they will become paid access to those sites only.

WestEnd, I understand your comments about sites need to charge for their services. But, I am already paying a subscription to that newspaper site, so I shouldn't be inundated with additional advertising. If I were using the news site for free, which people can do, which I have in the past, I could see having to put up with all the advertising. I'll see if the site can fix the issue as they say they will, being I'm a paid subscriber. If nothing comes to fruition, I will try a different ad block as you suggest. Thank you.

If your a paying subscriber then you need to inform them that it shouldn't be happening to you and for them to investigate why your getting those popups. But if they are doing they because they have a policy that states they can there not much one can do. So you need to contact their support and ask them about it.
