Backup and Import of Bookmarks in Firefox
I have an issue now that I did not have in the past. I backup my bookmarks to a JSON file. And save it to my OneDrive. I then go to another computer and open my OneDrive. The new file shows up. And I import my newly backed up bookmarks. I get the usual warning.... this will overwite etc...... I import.... I get a load of rubbish. This was how I always moved my most current bookmarks between computers. Something has changed in Firefox. Any explanation and help is appreciated. Thanks. [email]@yahoo.com

The JSON-format backup file is human readable, with difficulty. They typically start off like this (of course, those time stamps will vary):
{"guid":"root________","title":"","index":0,"dateAdded":1219946831611000,"lastModified":1627333288197000,"id":1,"typeCode":2,"type":"text/x-moz-place-container","root":"placesRoot","children":[
If you open your .json file in a Firefox tab, after a few moments, Firefox should try to display a structured view of the file, which can help to confirm that it has sensible contents. But if the Raw view doesn't even look like the above, then definitely something is wrong with the file.
The JSON file corrupts a lot (around here), so I always use the HTML format. If part of the file is corrupted, the rest might still be readable.
Thanks guys. But this did not work. JSON files give me rubbish (non coder). The html file gives me a text file of many bookmarks. In the past, when I imported bookmarks, they populated my Firefox instantly. Something has changed.
I have successfully created a text file of my bookmarks and copied them through OneDrive to the other computer. Pasted them in and viola....it all works. But the official way to do it with JSON or HTML export/import does not work. J

Does it start off like the text I pasted earlier, or not? I realize it's hard to read but it's not like random characters, right? And it looks the same on both ends of the file transfer?
