Firefox is always kept open on my PC. When I have a program update, I accept it but then Internet Explorer opens up for me to download the update. Normally/usually it would be Firefox. Why does it open Internet Explorer and not open in Firefox as per normal?

That depends upon the program involved. Some programs will use the default browser the user has set in preferences, while others will use the browser that comes with the operating system. IE in the case of Windows, and Safari on Macs.

Do you have Firefox set as the default browser in Vista?
Program Access & Defaults in Vista, IIRC.

Perfect, thank you, problem solved. It did cross my mind but I didn't check. I couldn't understand why this problem suddenly appeared because I don't recall making any changes to the default programs. Thanks again :-)
