Scans, Updates, and Connectivity1
Tyler:
That was very rude of you to lock my thread before I even had a chance to ask about Firefox.
How about being a little more understanding and patient so that I could get to my Firefox-related question?
If someone other than him could be of assistance, that would be appreciated.
I have Firefox 28 installed and noticed that it is connecting slowly to websites. I have 'reset' it but it is still load to load images within websites.
I was told to shut down the computer for about 30 mins but to leave it plugged in and to leave the external cable modem on so that the front lights are still on.
My question, before I was so rudely cut off, is this:
Is the computer still connected to the Internet (and is my 'virtual presence' still known) when:
The computer is shut down but left plugged in and the cable modem is left on 'or'
The computer is shut down and unplugged and the cable modem is left on 'or'
The computer is shut down but left plugged in and the cable modem is turned off 'or'
The computer is shut down and unplugged and the cable modem is turned off 'or'
It may be an obvious response to all of you but I would like to know.

As has been reiterated multiple times by multiples people in multiple ways, if your computer is Off, it is not connected to the internet. It doesn't matter what else is going on around it, it is not connected. It is just like your car, if it is off, it isn't driving. It doesn't matter if it's parked on a road, a driveway or in your garage, if it's off, it's off. If you don't have power going to something it can't work. The modem being on or flashing is irrelevant to this conversation.

If that is your question than you should have asked that to begin with, as it was you were asking multiple questions that weren't in any way related to Firefox.
The answer is, no matter what is plugged into your computer or not, if you click Start, Shut down, your computer is not online at all, not connected to anything, etc. It doesn't matter if your computer is plugged into the modem or not, if the modem is turned off, etc. If your computer is turned off your computer is not connected to the Internet, period.
Shutting down your computer for 30 minutes has no more difference on your computer than shutting it down for 30 seconds, you should try to pull the power from your modem for 5 minutes however, then plug it back in
There are other things you can do to try to fix slowness in Firefox, Quick fixes if your Firefox slows down
To be clear then, if the computer is shut down but the modem is left on and it is flashing, there is still no connection to the Internet and a 'virtual presence' would not be known

As I said before, how does this have anything to do with firefox? Or else this thread will also be closed.
The link that you attached 'Firefox is slow - How to make it faster' was very helpful and answered my question.
