If you check the address bar on those sites, do you see a Lego-like icon? If you click that, it should report the current status of Flash for that page (e.g., allowed or waiting activation). If Flash already is allowed on the page, or allowing it and then reloading the page doesn't help, is it possible that Adblock is getting a little too aggressive on the site?

The flash is enabled but I still get that message that I don't have flash. Check the picture http://i.imgur.com/vN7k512.jpg

Thanks for your fast reply, I'm really trying to sort this out ...

On Elance, I noticed that I got a JavaScript error at the top of the registration page if I blocked the Adobe/Omniture tracking script from this site:

elance.tt.omtrdc.net

Is it possible that Adblock or another extension is potentially interfering?

You could test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

I did what did you suggest and the same problem persist... Curious that in Chrome I don't have these issues ... So is not a problem from firewall or something similar is from FF ... Last night I uninstalled Firefox and installed a fresh version without add-ons and the same problem ... I love Firefox is my browser from almost 10 years, but this is getting annoying

I assume Flash works on Adobe's test page and on video hosting sites like Youtube. If not, please let me know.

Can you recall when this problem started? In particular, can you associate with an update to Firefox, or an update to Flash, or an update to Windows?

Do you notice any pattern relating to HTTP vs. HTTPS sites?

more options

Yes I don't have problems on youtube and I've logged in with my gmail account and I'm on secure connection on youtube and everything is working fine.

I don't know when this started but before I encounter this my browser was crashing frequently ... I even send an report on Firefox support. The browser was crashing when I was surfing on elance.com . I also having some typo problems but I've understand from their support is because of font format I was copying text from word and this was not supported

more options

Hmm, do you recall changing any Flash settings while you were troubleshooting the crashes? For example, did you stop allowing any sites to store data (local storage objects, or LSOs, or "Flash cookies")?

Adobe has a management page for those settings:

more options

No.

This is what I got on the links you gave me. http://prntscr.com/3wg6rt http://prntscr.com/3wg769

more options

I'm surprised that if you allow storage there's nothing stored. Did you clear the list of websites or was it already completely blank like that?

To see whether there might be a problem with cookie settings or corrupted cookies, could you test the two sites in a private window? You can launch the window using Ctrl+Shift+p.

more options

Yes I have cleared them.

I've enter in Private Mode and the results are the same ... Thanks for all the help and support. I've tried doing a lot of searches on Google about this but with no luck.

I'm running out of ideas...

Could you look at your plugins again? What are the real names of the ones that are described as:

  • A plugin to detect whether the Adobe Extension Manager is installed on this machine.
  • A plugin to detect whether the Adobe Application Manager is installed on this machine.

Unless you need those for a particular application, you might try setting those to "Never Activate" in case they are confusing those sites.

To set that, open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. A little pop-up control should let you change "Ask to Activate" to "Never Activate" for those and any others that you don't really need.

I've made a very short video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiUvUJ4atp0&feature=youtu.be

As you can see the option start ok but after 1-2 seconds it's like something is blocking it ... Could be a java problem?

more options

Maybe somewhere in the process of interacting with Flash, the site reads the version as something really old. ??

Most sites do not use Java (the Java plugin), but if the site requires it, then the "Lego" icon in the address bar usually would let you know.

Most sites DO use JavaScript. If JavaScript were disabled, you would be having problems throughout the web. Some security software selectively filters scripts (for example, I think McAfee does that), so that would be worth checking.

I have installed Malwarebytes https://www.malwarebytes.org/ but even if I disable it or close the program the same problem persist.

Anyway thanks for your help I really appreciated.

more options

As an experiment, if you set the Flash plugin to "Never Activate" and try the site again, does it behave the same or does it realize sooner that Flash is missing?

If you haven't already tried it, you could try a complete removal and reinstallation of Flash. Adobe has a removal tool linked in this article: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

more options

I have completely uninstall Flash using the removal tool and I have the same message but there is a difference. In the video posted above, this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiUvUJ4atp0&feature=youtu.be you see that the browser display the correct solution at second 5 but after it disappear . Now with flash uninstalled the message appear without the option at second 5.

Is like something is disable it. I've tried from my laptop wife and the same problem. SO is something from Firefox and from what we have tested till now it has nothing to do with add-ons ...

more options

I don't have an elance account, so it's hard for me to re-create.

My guess would be that the site first detects that Flash exists, but then a more detailed script is checking the Flash player and determines (incorrectly) that it cannot use that version of Flash.

Or maybe the site is misdetecting your Firefox version? But then ALL Firefox 30 users would be affected on both sites, and I'm not seeing enough Google traffic on this to support that theory.

How about your connection:

  • Do you use any proxy, private VPN, or TOR software/add-on when connecting to these sites?
  • Does the problem occur if you connect your laptop or your wife's laptop to a different (preferably secure) network and try the sites from there?
more options

I don't use any proxy or something like that.

Elance.com is unavailable now http://prntscr.com/3wr96x but I will try with a different connection from my wife laptop to see is something is changing.

I will keep you updated. Thanks.

I had to completely uninstall Flash 13 and install Flash stable 11.7 before all my problems went away with Hulu, Comedy Central and various other sites.

The war between Adobe and adblockers is causing problems.

I haven't stepped up to try 14 yet but 11.7 is working well. No more glitches at Hulu, no more pop-under ads or invisible audio ads.
