Do you mean the content in the window is cut off, or the window itself is off the screen upwards of where it should be?

Could you try down-zooming the content of the pop-up by holding down the Ctrl key and tapping the - key a couple times. If that makes the content fit the pop-up, the site probably is using a fixed size window that doesn't allow for higher zoom levels.

I am not aware of a fix for that, since the values usually would be hardcoded into the site's script. But pop-up windows should be resizable. That's a hassle if you have to do it often, so perhaps there's an add-on to work around this issue.

Window position

If you can't click and drag the title bar down, try using the Windows "Move" function. With the popup window active, press Alt+Spacebar and display the window control menu. This may or may not be visible. Press M to select the move function, and press the down arrow until the title bar of the pop up appears on the screen. Then press Enter to accept the current position.

Does Firefox remember your preferred position the next time, or same problem?

Thanks for your response. Content (pop up) inside the window is cut off at the top. Zoom doesn't change anything. I can't resize the pop up. Some sites it happens all the time. On FB it happens when I hover over a ticker notice but only the first time. If I go back to the same notice a second time it's positioned correctly. The problem I need to address is on sites where I can't do anything to affect the pop up's position inside the window.

Open a new tab or window. type about:support in the address box and press enter. Or Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Then Help > Troubleshooting Information.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close FireFox.

Delete or rename the localstore.rdf file. Then restart Firefox.

I'm not comfortable deleting files in the profile folder without more info

Hi ricosoma, previously I was thinking of "traditional" pop-up windows that were actually separate windows. Since you are seeing this issue with overlays drawn inside the web page itself, we'll need to come up with new ideas.

Is it a problem of the scroll position? In other words, the page draws the overlay in relation to the hovered content, and doesn't try to center it in the window. The workaround for that would be to scroll the page a little (the mouse wheel might be handy for this) to make sure the overlay is drawn completely in view.

Or is it impossible to adjust the position of the hovered content to get the overlay completely in view?

Not a scroll issue. Scrolling doesn't help. Pop up stays in the same position. Of course it's at the top of the page so scrolling down is useless. Can't adjust the pop up at all. Screen shot attached.

I don't think I have access to that same page since I don't have a myvolt account. Could you link to other pages that have this problem? It's possible that designers are designing for a higher vertical resolution than yours, but maybe with more examples we can think of a workaround.

It also happens in FB but I can work around that. This isn't the only site where it happens but I can't recall others at the moment. I'll post others when/if they come up.

Here's another example

If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.

• Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

• Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.

I think the problem on Yahoo's financial detail is that they do not consider the scroll position of the page, and show their hover-popups behind the header bar. You would need to scroll the page down in this case to see the whole panel.

Try this out, zoom out and see if any more of the pop-over shows up.
