I can zoom in only a few times (8 times from the default). I used to be able to zoom further, then Zoom.maxPercent was introduced and limited that, but via about:config I could change that. Now changing Zoom.maxPercent has no effect anymore either.

Chosen solution

I'm not sure what's going on. I can zoom now, but not sure how I got there. I suspect that restarting one profile was not enough to reinitialize Firefox. I had to close them all. (I wanted to be able to zoom in a new profile, but why wasn't I able to zoom in my old profile for a while? Don't know.) Anyway, obviously I don't need a zoom value of 50. The first time I changed those values I didn't know what I needed. As for why, I use it to (a) design layouts in em en zoom in to see responsive effects (b) want to blow up Chinese and Japanese characters easily for inspection or copy (c) use it to quickly make images that use glyphs (the interface for pasting glyphs in Gimp is cumbersome). - Thanks for your time.

Did you edit toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues? .3,.5,.67,.8,.9,1,1.1,1.2,1.33,1.5,1.7,2,2.4,3

By default there's 8 zoom increases available, but that pref maxes at 3.

I forgot about that one, but yes, I had changed that earlier as well, and it's still at:

.3,.5,.67,.8,.9,1,1.1,1.2,1.33,1.5,1.7,2,2.4,3,3.5,4,4.5,5,5.5,6,6.5,7,7.5,8,8.5,9,9.5,10,10.5,11,11.5,12,12.5,13,13.5,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,22,24,26,28,30,35,38,40,50

I suppose a recent update nullified editing toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues and Zoom.maxPercent

Why want do they want to restrict zoom so badly anyway?

Thanks, but not solved.

How about reducing the number of "values" for toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues? Like maybe 15 as an experiment? See if that helps.

Beyond that, why do you need a zoom value of 50?
