I have recently done a factory reset on my laptop. I have reinstalled Firefox but I keep getting a pop up box 'Firefox Setup Stub 37.0.1 exe' everytime FF opens. I download it, it executes, FF opens and the pop up comes back again. I have uninstalled and tried again but the same thing happens. It's getting really annoying everytime I open the internet and get this darn box! Any suggestions?!

Is it possible you run the installer every time instead of the installed program? Check the target of your Firefox shortcut.

I've checked the target - its Firefox.exe.....

What's the full path to 'Firefox.exe'? Do you still have the stub installer on your disk?

You can check the home page setting to make sure that you do not have a page included that tries to download Firefox:

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page

Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).
