Tried .csv from Excel spreadsheet and tried a generic comma "," delimited file in the form

First name,Last Name, emailaddress ( oh yes,,,de-selecting any unused , not present information)

The import creates an Address Book by the name of the Import file. The addresses are found correctly, but all the FirstNames and Lastnames are missed, BUT Thunderbird put the first part of the email address in the Firstname field.

I should say it is partially successful as I can go in and update the properties of each one, but what good is the import outside of adding 100's email addresses only ???

Double - triple checked the file format and the field selection / positioning scenarios of the import function...just stumped.

Create a spreadsheet with these columns:

First Name, Last Name, Display Name, Nickname, Primary Email, Secondary Email, Work Phone, Home Phone

Leave a column empty if it's not relevant, then export to csv format, and then import to TB. Check that the input fields line up with the address book fields before the final import step.
