On FF ESR 38.7, when FF ESR 45 will become available - will the autoupdater update to ESR 38.8 or will it try to switch to ESR 45?

Upgrade paths are not clear, especially with ESR having two releases at the same time.

With the NPAPI being removed, I would like to ensure that our users won't be moved from ESR 38.x before we can have another solution in place.

hi BartS1, automatic updates on the esr channel will be turned on once 38.8.0 gets deprecated and 45.2.0 becomes available at the end of may. however, to my knowledge, nothing should change in regards to NPAPI support in 32bit versions of firefox in the next esr cycle...

dropping support for NPAPI plugins won't happen before the end of 2016: https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/
