Updated to new version. Now cannot connect to server. Have spent 4 hours with technicians but to no avail.

I have connected to Dodo NBN and have been using Thunderbird for some time (years) and now cannot get smtp.dodo.com.au to connect. Have tried Dodo technicians (2 hours), who say their system is sending OK, and have tried an online technician (> 1 hour), who could not find problem. Thunderbird worked well before update. Fred

Make sure your firewall (or security) software recognizes the Thunderbird update. Most likely this is the issue, and reinstalling the previous version should work again (but don’t).

Try removing any rules referring to Thunderbird in that software, start using Thunderbird and wait for the software to ask for permission. If it doesn’t, remove the references and re-add them manually (point to the new thunderbird.exe like it did before).

For ZoneAlarm for instance, this question recently showed it can be tricky too. If you use anything else, what software is it?
