Am going to reformat my laptop, need assistance with settings
I am going to reformat my laptop, my dilemma is the Firefox settings and speed-dial. I have an add on - "FVD Speed-dial" with loads of pages. Is there a similar way of transferring this speed-dial as with Thunderbird? I used that method with success when building my wife's new laptop. Looking forward to your help Many thanks

If the settings are stored in the profile folder, there should be no problem.
If FVD were a separate program, that might be a problem.

You have several options. I suggest getting a thumb drive. Or you can buy a backup hard drive and store seldom used and copies of everything leaving you extra room on your primary drive.
Note: Sync is not intended as a backup.
Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.
Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder.
Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.
Now Close Firefox. This is your current profile. Copy the folder As Is to a folder on a thumb drive. Then Copy the folder to the new system.
Thank you so much. You mention Linux, does these instructions apply to Windows 10 too?
Linux instructions are a bit different than Windows.
Hello EJohnDavies,
The first part of FredMcD's post applies to Windows ....
(as you're on Windows, you can ignore the 'Linux part')
Thanks again, I know i'm picky, but will this copy my FVD Speed Dial settings too? This is an add on.
Cheers

Thanks so much for your help Eric
Note that you also need to copy profiles.ini to make Firefox recognize a saved profile folder. Otherwise you get a profile not found error.
