Firefox opens two new windows when I click on a link
I am using Firefox browser on my MacBook Pro and I have noticed the following.
When I quit the Firefox app (no background activity), and I click on a link that I receive in an email (from my Mail app), then Firefox opens 2 windows. One is empty and the second leads to the desired link.
On the other hand, if I don't quit the Firefox app but simply close it (x symbol), then when I click on a link it open correctly in a single window.
Chosen solution
I have the same problem. Two pages open, not just one. And this had been going on for years as I have noted in other fora. Come on, guys.

Just to add that in the first case where 2 windows open, the one of the is broken i.e. right click looks like this:

Modified
I have experienced the Bug 1603956 referred to above.
Just to be clear, it is not the same as the initial question: "Firefox opens two new windows when I click on a link".
I am experiencing the two windows opening Firefox cold, from a link every time.
Bug 1603965 happens once in a while.
