Autoplay still happening on Version 78
Is there a fault on Version 78 that still allows autoplay? Despite what settings I change, in Options or About:config (i.e changing 0 to 5) NOTHING is working. Autoplay still happens. This is causing loading problems as well. Worst sites are: Twitter, Youtube and BBC.co.uk I have tried media.autoplay.default set to 5. media.autoplay.blocking_policy to 5 (yet it cannot be saved and defaults to 0 if leaving that tab). Please help. I have an autistic person in the home, and this is really causing problems, to the point were I may have to switch browser. Thank you.

media.autoplay.blocking_policy can only be 0 or 1 or 2.
# This pref defines what the blocking policy would be used in blocking autoplay. # 0 : use sticky activation (default) # https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/interaction.html#sticky-activation # 1 : use transient activation (the transient activation duration can be # adjusted by the pref `dom.user_activation.transient.timeout`) # https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/interaction.html#transient-activation # 2 : user input depth (allow autoplay when the play is trigged by user input # which is determined by the user input depth)
Hi. Thanks for your reply. I have tried media.autoplay.blocking_policy at 2, many, many times; however it NEVER saves this setting, even in the same tab. It ALWAYS defaults to 0. Which means everytime Firefox opens a new website or link, the default is again 0. Thus autoplay keeps happening. Even when the setting is change to 2, the autoplay keeps happening! Is this the bug many others have commented on? Is there another way to keep the settings the same or is there simply no way to stop autoplay? Thanks
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems with preferences.
You can delete possible user.js and numbered prefs#-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
