In Thunderbird 78.5 the send button in the Compose window will remain disabled, if the name of a mailing list is entered in the "To:" field, although it obviously finds the list in the address book.

Creating a mail from the addressbook works with this list, but it is immediately expanded into a list of single addresses.

It looks like there is some syntax-checking for valid email addresses, which is handling list names incorrectly (obviously there is no pattern like @zzz.xx in the list name)

Does the same thing happen in safe mode (Help/Restart with add-ons disabled)? Some add-ons, like Signature Switch, break addressing with lists.

It was the CardBook Add-on, which caused the problem.

Had the same issue and it worked after deactivating the CardBook Add-on, so thanks for this hint. Anyway, was this issue already reported to support@cardbook.icu, so that it will be fixed in next Add-on updates? Maybe you even have gotten feedback from support, then? Any additional information would be welcome. BR

Card Book caused the problem, but I think a recent update corrected it. The add-on is updated almost weekly, but I wouldn't rely on 'auto update' of add-ons to have the latest version.

My Cradbook claims, it had been updated on January 7th. But the problem still exists.
