Newtab pinned pages missing
Today when I started Firefox browser all of my pinned pages on the home page are missing. There are no icons and clicking where a link should be doesn't do anything. Also, if I try to edit and add a new page it doesn't save.
I looked in about:config and found browser.newtabpage.pinned which still has all of my links.
Last night I ran chkdsk on Windows 10, so is it possible something critical was "fixed" or deleted?

You can try "Clear the startup cache..." via the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.
Clearing the startup cache didn't work.
Are there relevant-looking messages in the Web Console if you reload the page ?
Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
There were no messages in Web Console on home page reload. There was no change when running in Troubleshoot Mode. Restarting my computer and clearing the browser cache didn't help. Firefox Refresh didn't help.
I saved my profile information and uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox. The newly installed browser worked fine and had links on the home page. But when I restored my profile the problem returned. So there is something screwed up somewhere in my profile information.
Does it still work if you restore only browser.newtabpage.pinned via about:config and a restart and not the full prefs.js file ?
I overwrote prefs.js when I restored my profile. Is there any way I can just get a clean copy of it without uninstalling/reinstalling?
You can remove the copied prefs.js and let Firefox create a new file. You need to redo changes you made in Settings or that are otherwise saved in prefs.js.
I reinstalled Firefox and instead of my full profile, I just copied in prefs.js and the bookmark backups. The browser is working fine now.
Thank you very much for your help.
