Thunderbird Crashes with Attachments
Good day. i have the 115.13.0 (64-bit) version of Thunderbird installed on a Windows 10 computer. It keeps crashing whenever i try to save an attachment from an email or include an attachment to an email. Basically, whenever the dialog box opens to save an attachment or select a file to attach, Thunderbird crashes.
i had a similar issue with Firefox. That problem went away when i uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions). However the problem with Thunderbird persists.
Here are the last six Crash Reports IDs: bp-53c587b1-27a7-4db5-8e2b-225040240806 8/6/2024, 2:00 PM bp-903b1358-8fd4-43fe-af2c-088d20240806 8/6/2024, 1:52 PM bp-392b62dd-6b13-4df0-b0e5-2b6dc0240803 8/2/2024, 6:32 PM bp-1ab3a2d4-4335-40a7-a2f4-e54a80240726 7/26/2024, 11:55 AM bp-f5a69dc1-ca42-4bd3-b8a4-4e2820240715 7/14/2024, 7:24 PM bp-2c81780c-352e-4c95-820f-e73080240713 7/12/2024, 6:29 PM

Thanks, sfhowes. There was a new version of the ownCloud client available (v5.3.1.14018). So i installed it and so far the problem is not reoccurring. Time will tell for sure.

The reports point to possible issues with MalwareBytes and ownCloud. The first might affect attachments if it's scanning the TB profile folder (add the profile as an exception or exclusion), while the second might affect TB if you are syncing with ownCloud online storage. Run Windows in safe mode, which will bypass startup apps, which probably includes MWB and oC, and test TB.
