I get this message: Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time.
My computer shut down suddenly. When I rebooted it I had lost all of my Firefox bookmarks. I saw the notice that this sometimes happens with security software. After I restarted the computer and nothing happened, I contacted Norton Security. They tried several things but none worked. However during the course of the 2 1/2 hour process I have lost access to Firefox completely. When I click on the icon I get the message "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time." I re-downloaded Firefox 3.6.8, but nothing changed. Then I tried to follow the directions about "parent folders" in a Firefox forum, but I did not find them that clear. Is there an easy way for me to recover Firefox and my bookmarks/history?

Did you delete your Firefox Profile Folder or files in the profile folder?

Thanks for the suggestion. However, Firefox will not load, so I cannot get to those files to see what I can do.
Okay - I have managed now to get into Firefox using another browser. I'll keep working at it.
Doesn't look like I can recover the bookmarks. I tried using the Firefox back-up, deleting profiles, etc. - but nothing seems to work.
Did you try a new profile?
