Hi.

In IE 8 there is a provision under Tools -> Delete Browsing History to Preserve Favorites Website Data, like CNN and MSNBC settings, etc.

I don't see how I can do this in FF 4.

I tried leaving the Site Preferences box unchecked, to no avail. All of my personal website settings are deleted anyway.

What's up?

Please respond.

TIA :0)

Such details are stored in a cookie.

Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.

Do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

@ cor-el:

Thanks for the response.

To me, it is insanity to track down the origin of each website setting that is stored. In IE, this is a real no brainer - you just leave the "Preserve Favorites Website Data" box checked and life is great.

I'm more than surprised that Mozilla would design a browser in this way - it should be easy to use, not the other way around.

Is it me? :(

Is there an add-on?
