I recently updated my firefox browser to ver. 6.0. And now i can`t use some of my extenions due to incompatibility, like Java Console 6.0.24 and 6.0.26.

I frequent online gaming sites that use the javascript and console, and now some of the game sites won`t load without java, since its been disabled.
It might help if a tech could call me at 360-953-6103

You only need the Java Console extension if you want to debug Java Applets to do troubleshooting.

You can see in your More system details list that the Java plugin that is used to run Java applets is still enabled. See also the about:plugins page via the location bar.

Java Console is mostly needed by Java programmers. Disabling Java Console has nothing to do with the sites that use Java for games or other content. I keep Java Console disabled on my systems (or remove it, see below) and am able to use Java sites. Also, JavaScript is not Java (see http://kb.mozillazine.org/JavaScript_is_not_Java ).

Java updater will always install the latest Java Console (even though only a few people really need it) and frequently does not clean-up the old Java Console files on your system. You will find which installed Java Console extensions are on your system in Add-ons > Extensions, but you can not remove/uninstall them there. You can remove them manually without affecting the functioning of Java for Java sites by following the directions in this article:

In Add-ons > Plugins you should see

  • Java(TM) Platform SE (version): this is the plugin that is used on Java sites for games and other Java content. It must be enabled
    • if you see a "Disable" button then it is Enabled
    • if you see an "Enable" button then it is Disabled; click the Enable button to enable Java
  • Java Deployment Toolkit (version): you do not need this.
    • If you see a "Disable" button, click it to Disable Java Deployment Toolkit
    • If you see an "Enable" button, it is already disabled, leave it alone.

Test your Java installation: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

  • If it shows that you have Java installed and it is working, then there is some other problem.

Do you have any Add-ons > Extensions that affect scripts, like NoScript? If so, that could cause JavaScript not to work on sites. Many/most sites depend on/use JavaScript.
