After upgrading to Firefox 6.0.2, first flash content would not display, but now the plugin does not load at all. Firefox plugin check says Flash is out of date, but I've just downloaded it from the website.

Current Firefox versions are 64 bit on OS X, so you need a 64 bit version of Flash with Firefox 6.0.x or you need to start Firefox as a 32 bit application to be able to use a 32 bit version of a plugin.

  1. Close Firefox
  2. Start the Finder and open the Applications folder
  3. Right click or control-click the Firefox.app icon
  4. Select "Get Info"
  5. Select or Deselect "Open in 32-bit mode"
  6. Close the "Firefox Info" window
  7. Restart Firefox

I'm not seeing the Flash plugin listed in your above posted More system details list.

Is that plugin enabled (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins)?

I've had a similar problem on Windows where there was 2 copies of the flash .dll (not sure what they are on a Mac).

One was in the profile directory, while the other was in System32. Somehow, the one in the profile directory was taking precedence over the one in System32 so that when I installed a more recent version of flash (that installs in System32), I'd still get an error indicating that my version was too old.

check to make sure you don't have 2 or more copies of the files required for flash.

Flash does not appear in the plugins list. It works fine in other browsers. /Library/Internet plug-ins/Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt exist. I can't find the flash plugin elsewhere (profile/plugins, in the App package)

I created a new profile to test if the profile was at fault. The plugin still did not load. Firefox finds the plugin but in [profile]/pluginreg.dat it adds it under [INVALID]:

[INVALID] /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin:$ 1315562441000:$ /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/flashplayer.xpt:$ 1314065602000:$

Well, I found the problem. I had slimmed Firefox (removed powerpc and other languages) using XSlimmer. For some reason, this stops Flash working in Firefox. Any suggestions? Or should I just not slim Firefox now?

Thank you. The problem was I was trying to use 32 bit flash with 64 bit Firefox (XSlimmer had removed the 32 bit binary from Firefox). I installed Flash 11 RC1 64 bit and flash works in 64 bit with 64 bit Firefox. Flash 11 RC1
