When I open Firefox a cursor appears in the search textbox but I must click on it before I can enter text. When I click the textbox changes color (from white to a light teal color) and the cursor and any text I type is invisible.

That can be caused by the "Keystroke protection" in Comcast Constant Guard.

"Configure Anti-Keylogging Settings" -> disable
