TIME : BUTTON STATUS

initially : reload normal
press F5 : stop normal
page reloading: stop normal
page loaded : reload greyed out
half a second passes
page loaded : reload normal

the problem lies in the fact that half a second passes AFTER the page has loaded before the reload button turns from greyed out to normal again. the same happens not only when reloading but also when just visiting a site.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You can also try to repair the places database with this extension:

I don't think that there is any corruption of the sqlite file, the behaviour is persistent among different computers. What I'm saying is that the reload button goes into an active state slowly when the page finishes loading.

currently : ( page loading ) stop button -> ( page finishes loading ) reload button inactive -> reload button active

it should be : ( page loading ) stop button -> ( page finishes loading ) reload button active
