I can't use Firefox, AddThis has frozen the screen and it's useless--using IE now. What can I do?

Yesterday I added AddThis extension to Firefox and when it installed on opening this morning, it freezes the whole browser.

I can't go anywhere else, only the "install AddThis" box, none of the other toolbar icons work, and neither do keyboard shortcuts. I can close the whole browser using Control/Alt/Delete, etc. But I need my browser. Please help!

Chosen solution

Open Firefox in the Firefox SafeMode. Hold the Shft key when you double-click the Firefox desktop icon. Don't select anything except for Continue in SafeMode.

Then do Ctrl+Shft+A to open the Addons Manager tab. Under Extensions hit the Remove button for that extension.

Then close Firefox.

Hopefully your freezing problem will be solved.
