I have tried all of the options in your support pages . I am not getting emails in order to reset my email. I did a master reset and it still tells me that my "new" email is in use. I do not get emails regarding recovery key change because the email stays the same . I can log in to your normal support page and I have just changed that password - that worked . . I assume that this password is not my master one . . When I did a master reset, where do I go or what do I do after that??

Struggling now for several hours . . .

Reset your email for what?

For Firefox Sync?

Your Recovery Key isn't sent by email or to Mozilla, only you have it in your Firefox Passwords or in Manage Account in Sync preferences or options.

As far as "passwords" with Firefox and/or Mozilla - there is no master password", all passwords are separate for every service or website.

If you have a different email address that you want to use for Firefox Sync services, just create a new Sync account.

This page does not help . . When I try to get a new key, it asks for me to log in - email address ok, but incorrect password. Request new password . . no email back to enable me to re-set. I have tried a master reset . . that does not help either . .

I cannot create a new account, because I am told my email address is already in use. When I try to log in it says incorrect password . . Forgotten password ? Yes - but I do not receive an email.

I can see passwords stored, but they only relate to external sites . . not Firefox/mozilla.

I have done a firefox reset under trouble shooting . . no difference.

I have successfully "joined" Mozilla Persona . but no help there either.

I cannot find a way to get a new password, or check to see where Firefox are sending my password resets emails to.

My forum email, and password are working fine, and just to check out the system I reset my password on that, and I got an email from firefox for reset. Unfortunately this password does not relate to sync.

And there is a Master Password (under Options Security) but mine is not active.

You will first have to delete the current Sync account if you want to use the same email address to start anew.

I was lucky . . . I had already tried to delete my sync account but I could not because I had forgotten the password, and I was not getting any email responses fro Firefox to enable me to reset it. . Catch 22 !!

I just persevered using a lot of "old" passwords that I had on file. Well one of them worked !!!

Thanks but it still doesn't explain why Firefox do not email me with a password reset !!!!

I have exactly the same issue trying to reset Sync. No reset email after several attempts.

Have you tried to delete your sync account?? I couldn't to start with as I couldn't remember my password . . and had all the problems . . I even wrote a letter to Firefox in London . . so far no reply . . The as explained above I tried a few old passwords - one worked - and then I could start over . . Best of luck

If I could find a password that worked, I wouldn't have the problem; I would just use that.

edit: Thanks for the suggestion, though.

This is exactly my problem. I no longer have my FF Sync recovery key, nor do I know my FF Sync password. Bad bad me but data losses occur.

I go through all the steps to reset my Sync password but I never receive the email, and of course, I cannot create a new Sync account because my email address is already in use.

I am so frustrated that I am thinking about abandoning FF completely. The google sync process requires that I know my google account password only and I use that everyday, so I have no trouble recalling it There is not a separate "sync" account as there is here. If your pw recovery process worked, then I wouldn't be complaining but it DOESN'T!!!! This totally sucks.

Sync's reset password feature is broken at the moment.

Update: I've heard from the Mozilla developers that a fix for the broken Sync password reset was finished today @ 2:45pm Central time. It should be working now.

Let us know if you still can not reset the password so we can let them know.

jdnirwin, I agree this sucks. But it looks like in this case they had some kind of server error or server failure and no company is immune from that. Hopefully it works now. *Fingers crossed*
