Download from Google Play store seemed to be successful. On install phase, got message that said "package file invalid". Install of latest version was same for older Samsung Fascinate phone and newer Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. Any suggestions?

Hi tslattery

Today December 10, 2013, we released Firefox for Android 26 with official support for Intel x86 mobile chipsets. In fact the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (which has an Intel chipset) is explicitly mentioned in our blog post:

https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2013/12/10/firefox-for-android-optimized-for-devices-that-support-intel-x86-chipsets/

Please give Firefox for Android 26 another try from the Google play store.

Hopefully it should work for you now.

We don't have any control over the way Google Play installs updates. This normally means that Google had some sort of issue sending the updated Firefox to you. Google keeps a list of known issues at https://support.google.com/googleplay/known-issues/1319135?hl=en

That answer was helpful in that it seems to indicate where the problem may reside. I am now unable to use Firefox on the tablet as in pursuit of a solution on my own, I uninstalled the app in hopes of getting a clean install. So now I am left with the Android browser or Chrome at this point. Thanks for pointing me in this direction.

Good to see it is finally on Release and not only on Beta channel.

What is funny is Intel was a holdout on making ARM chips and only more recently been manufacturing 64-bit ARM chips of its own as they were unable to do well with with its own mobile Atom chipset in mobile market.
