I recently bought a Blackberry CLASSIC to replace a Blackberry BOLD I have. I have an existing Thunderbird e-mail account on the Bold which has worked fine for years. However when I try to set-up the e-mail account on the new Classic - which has different fields - it repeatedly fails. I have tried again and again varying the information but with no success. Below I set-out the new Blackberry CLASSIC fields that need completing plus the previous Blackberry BOLD fields - which works fine - plus the information from my Mozilla Thunderbird Server Settings. I would really appreciate advice/guidance on what to fill-in on the new CLASSIC e-mail settings. I hope someone can help - see below.

New BLACKBERRY CLASSIC new e-mail set-up fields:

POP DESCRIPTION YOUR NAME USER NAME E-MAIL ADDRESS PASSWORD SERVER ADDRESS PORT - ? 995 USE SSL - yes/no

SMTP USER NAME SMTP PASSWORD SMTP SERVER ADDRESS SMTP PORT - ? 465 SMTP ENCRYPTION - SSL SYNC INTERVAL - 30 minutes SYNC TIMEFRAME - 30 Days

This is what I currently have on my OLD Blackberry BOLD for the e-mail account - @agilderson.co.uk - which I want to set-up on the new Blackberry CLASSIC:

POP E-MAIL ADDRESS: @agilderson.co.uk E-MAIL ACCOUNT NAME: @agilderson.co.uk YOUR NAME: Graham Welsh SIGNATURE: Graham Welsh USER NAME: agilderson.co.uk PASSWORD: password REPLY TO: @agilderson.co.uk AUTO BCC: blank SYCHRONISATION OPTIONS: blank/deleted items EMAIL SERVER: pop3.hosts.co.uk EMAIL SERVER TYPE: pop PORT: 995 TICK: use SSL TIMEOUT: 120seconds

This is the current set-up on my MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD set-up SCREEN for the e-mail - @agilderson.co.uk:

ACCOUNT NAME: @agilderson.co.uk ID - YOUR NAME: Graham Welsh E-MAIL ADDRESS: @agilderson.co.uk OUTGOING SERVER (SMTP) : use default server SERVER SETTINGS: SERVER TYPE: POP mail server SERVER NAME: pop3.hosts.co.uk PORT: 995 USER NAME: agilderson.co.uk SECURITY SETTINGS: CONNECTION SECURITY: SSL/TLS AUTHENTICATION METHOD: normal password SERVER SETTINGS: Tick - check for new messages at start-up Tick - check for messages every 10 minutes Tick - leave messages on server: Tick - for at most 14 days Tick - until I delete them LOCAL DIRECTORY: C:\Users\Graham\Appdata\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\t4nzqi4g.default\Mail\Pop3.agilderson.co-1.uk OUTGOING SERVER (SMTP) SETTINGS: DEFAULT SERVER: agilderson.co.uk-smtp.hosts.co.uk (default) DESCRIPTION <not specified> SERVER NAME: smtp.hosts.co.uk PORT: 25 USER NAME: agilderson.co.uk AUTHENTICATION METHOD: Password, transmitted insecurely CONNECTION SERVER: None

Many thanks Graham Welsh

You're rather more likely to get help on a Blackberry support forum.

As an aside, I'd advise against using POP on a mobile device.
