explorer has a red x on top of the page to stop pages from loading and stop videos on the page from cycling. Does Mozilla have such a feature?

Explorer has a stop/escape red X next to the green refresh icon. The stop icon stops the page from loading any further and stops any video that is looping. It pretty much stops all activity on the page. Does Mozilla have such a feature? If so, where is it?

Firefox doesn't have a button to freeze the page.

Firefox has a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location/address bar.

  • Stop button (x): while the page is loading
  • Reload button (circular arrow): when the page has finished loading
middle-click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab
  • Go button (right pointing arrow): when you modify the location/address bar content

So if a website decides to play a video while your trying to read something, you just have to grin and bear it with Mozilla? Is there any way of transferring the feature from Explorer to Mozilla?

If this is about a video that plays in another tab then you can set this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • media.block-autoplay-until-in-foreground = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

You can mute the sound of a tab by clicking the speaker icon on this tab to give it a strike trough and set the tab in mute state.
