68.12.0 (64-bit) on Linux Manjaro. It connects server mail account via POP3, when i today clicked to get messages it downloaded 4, but in the Inbox on server is 13 (!!) and in Trash on server there is 199 emails (after a while i realised that these are from the time i was using IMAP possibly). And POP3 is able to download only from Inbox?

Then i disabled all 3 filters i have for that account. Later, i have found that the remaining server Inbox mails was placed into client Trash folder. Even later when i have enabled filters, again e-mail are not downloaded. The status bar shows Downloading 1 out of 28 messages for a second, but then downloads 0 messages. Why? I see that this mail account settings was autodetected as non SSL: (port 110, security: STARTTLS). In Outgoing/SMTP server settings it used weird port 587 that i do not see mentioned on server + STARTTLS. Though SSL settings not helped with mentioned issue.

Regarding issue with mails downloaded to local Trash, what helped was to go to Tools/Message Filters/Filter log (enable). Then after processing some mail, i have seen which filter caused the trashing and indeed i had wrong option in that filter (Match any/Match all conditions).

I am not sure though regarding why it not downloaded from Inbox before and if really Trashed items could be from IMAP times and if POP3 unable to download from Trash.

Regarding issue of not downloaded mail despite server's Inbox contains e-mail:

Possibly due to a known bug (is bug report submitted?) in Thunderbird
