Passwords
I cannot create a new login when I try I get this error message "An error occurred while trying to save this password". Whenever I open a new site and am asked if I want to save the password I click yes. When I check the logins/passwords on FF it's empty. I found someone else had this same issue and tried what was suggested and it did not work for me. I really need to save several passwords. This is quite frustrating. Help!

What have you tried to do to fix this?
Are you using a password manager other than what came with the browser?
Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
I have only checked on this site to see how to fix the problem. Not using any password manager. I tried using lockwise which did not help and syncing. I did try your method in the troubling shooting version of FF and it worked. Why did it not work using the regular FF?

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}
Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.
I only had 3 addons and I disabled each one at a time and restarted FF each time and attempted to add needed password and site. Each time I get the same errors. (see attached) I also have FF on my phone. I don't use it much but sometimes I need it for certain things and want to start using it more but I can't with this ongoing issue. I was thinking I should delete all from phone and laptop and start fresh.
Did you enter the Primary Password to unlock the Password Manager?
No I simply hit the sign in tab and it signed me in as it does every time. I don't even remember the Primary password.
You will need the Primary password to both decrypt and encrypt your passwords.
Without the primary password, Firefox can't do this for you.
Please if you will use the primary password, remember it.
In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
I am not sure how this solves my problem. I am trying to create a password and save it for a financial site I visit often. I still have the same problem not sure how the primary password, which I probably set up years ago, will fix my present issue. I am not concerned about passwords being lost I have a safeguard for that I just need to be able to create and save passwords on Firefox which for some reason I cannot do, except in trouble shoot mode.
Does the logins.json file in the profile folder contain logins if you open this file in a Firefox tab in case you previously stored logins ?
If you use the Time Machine or other backup then try to restore logins.json and key4.db from this backup.
Try to rename/remove logins.json and key4.db in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed to force Firefox to create new file. You lose logins stored in logins.json.
You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).
