I need to use Awesome Screenshots and it does not work for Firefox 8. I want to go back until it is available.

How do I do this?

Where do I find a download link for the earlier Firefox version?

Yeah, when installing latest versions of the release, the main problem is that many of the add-ons don't work. That's one of the reasons I wait for a few days until I install the newer version. I've been happy with the previous latest versions of Firefox, but am not too happy with Firefox 8.0 mainly because it's slowed down my Hotmail for some reason. Still trying to figure that out.

Anyway, lest I digress, here is download link to the Firefox 7.0.1 (for Windows US-EN). The download link is just below the video. Make sure to backup your favourites, etc. before downgrading.

All the best! :)

Thank you. I was stupid...(this happened before and I clicked the upgrade button without thinking). It will never happen again...

I appreciate all the hard work that goes into FF but I think I'll stay one build behind as not to be aggravated anymore. I have done this to myself numerous times and knew better. I'm back to Firefox 7.0.1 now.

There is a Firefox 8.0 compatible version of Awesome Screenshot 2.3.5 available here:

So I got the download. but you didn't give better directions... do I UNINSTALL Firefox8 or just install Firefox7 over it? ANd then how do I prevent it from updating on its own?

more options

Yes, you will have to uninstall Firefox 8 first before you downgrade to Firefox 7. However, when you uninstall, make sure that you don't choose the option "Remove my Firefox Personal Data".

Also, as a precautionary measure, before you uninstall Firefox, you may want to backup your Firefox profile. You can find help here on How to find your Profile.

In order to avoid automatic updates in the future, do the following:

  • Go to \Firefox\Options\Options;
  • Go to the Advanced tab;
  • Under Advanced, choose the "Update" tab;
  • Click on the radio button which says "Ask me what I want to do".

Hope this helps.

I resisted updating to FF8 but then I buckled. Needless to say some of my favourite add ons didn't work. I always make sure I have a Restore Point made before I do this sort of thing. Did a system restore and was happily back to FF7. If you've got your system set to make automatic restore points just go back to the latest one before you installed FF8.

I made the mistake of updating to firefox 8 which I hated. I uninstalled and reinstalled 7 as you suggested, but my roboform toolbar is still not showing up. What do I do. I have paid for roboform pro version. Any help is appreciated.
