Google translate randomly opens when using Firefox, copying text off website (wikipedia) fails, but replaces text on website with random words. What is up with this?

Google translate tab opens at random while I am on internet, particularly when typing, pressing the left or backspace key, or when I use the search bar in top right of Firefox.

Secondly, when I copy a piece of text from a website, eg. wikipedia, the ctrl+c function doesn't copy, but the highlighted text on the website is replaced with random words.

Think the issue may be with Google translate, not FF.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
