Could you drag and drop the .json file onto a Firefox tab to see what it looks like?

The Backup feature creates a file that starts like this:

{"guid":"root________","title":"",

The Export feature creates a file that starts like this:

<!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1>

However, Firefox should display it as a web page.

Does either of those look like a match?

If you haven't changed the Windows setting which hides certain file extensions, I suggest showing ALL file extensions in case the problem is that the file extension isn't exactly right. See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions

Thank you for your help. I dragged the backup file to unsourced bookmarksand it looks like your Backup example above- {"guid":"root_________________","title":"",

What do I do?

Make sure that the file has a .json file extension. If necessary then check the file type in the properties via the right-click context menu.

Also use the Restore menu item.
