Unique problem with dowloading files. when i first boot up the computer, and go to one of several sites that I work with to download a file of some kind even Zoom links, the save file or open file box is grayed out and i cannot open or download the files. However, as soon as I restart the computer, it clears that up and I then do everything. why?

About how long before the problem starts? Is this with all websites/pages, some, a few?

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a download manager.

This download manager works separately from the browser. The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org It is a powerful modern download accelerator and organizer for Windows and Mac.

Thanks for your response and I'm sure that using the download manager may help. But this is an odd symptom, that clears up every time i reboot the computer. very strange. the symptom is for all web sites when first starts up.

I use an add-on and also the separate download manager (for very large files). See if the problem is gone using them.
