how do I get rid of the Ask Toolbar? I have firefox 6
I have used Firefox for a few years and am happy with it. Downloaded Firefox 6 to a new computer, and with it came the ASK toolbar. I don't want that, and have tried everything I can find to get rid of it, but you have planted it too deep. How do I get rid of ASK and keep the Firefox I know. As the web is full of similar questions, why do you piggyback this irritating thing onto a perfectly good program. thank you

The Ask Toolbar did not come with the Firefox update. Something else you installed or updated carried that add-on with it.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar and remove it:
- Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
- Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
Uninstalling Ask Toolbar-

There are so much programs that bundle these type of toolbars, you have to deselect the toolbar in the program installation. See the list

I remember, once I installed Nero 9. In the Nero 9 installation wizard, you couldn't de-select Ask Toolbar and without installing Ask Toolbar the setup would not continue. After installing Nero removing Ask Toolbar did not have any effect on Nero Burning services.
