I have version 10.0 and this week the vertical lines in tables stopped showing up, they appear and then disappear, does not happen in any other browser.

When I have a table with columns, the vertical lines show up and then disappear. The right side and bottom lines show up and the top and left side lines are very light with no vertical lines showing to separate the columns.

This just happened this week. It does not matter what size I make the screen, once they disappear, they do not show back up. IE and Google Chrome have no problem with the lines showing up.

Does it help if you resize that window one or more pixels?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

This did not work. Even in safe mode and cache cleared, the vertical lines still do not show up. My site is: http://www.belovedembroidery.com

The home page has a table and the vertical lines are missing. The footer also has a table and the vertical lines are missing.

What is peculiar is that two of my pages (http://www.belovedembroidery.com/forms/forms.php?form=7&begin=1) and (http://www.belovedembroidery.com/forms/forms.php?form=5&begin=1) the vertical lines show up in the footer.

It always worked fine until this week.

No problems here with missing vertical lines on that web page in Firefox 10.0.1.

You did try Firefox in Save mode?

  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

I just updated to Firefox 10.0.1 and it still does the same thing - vertical lines missing. I did restart Firefox again in safe mode and add-ons disabled and the lines are visible now.

For extensions I only have AVG Safe Search, AVG Security toolbar and Swag Bucks Community Toolbar.

Does this mean I need to just always run with Add-ons disabled?

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

This is the strangest thing I have ever seen.

I disabled the 3 add-on (AVG Safe Search, AVG Security Toolbar, and Swag Bucks Community Toolbar).

I then tried them one at a time, and each one by itself would work. I then tried enabling the two AVG extensions at the same time and they worked.

However, when I added the Swag Bucks Toolbar along with the AVG extensions, the vertical lines would disappear. By itself, Swagbucks would work, but combined with the AVG, the lines disappear.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

I am just about ready to give up. Earlier I was able to even play videos on FB but that stopped working. It kept saying I needed to update Flash (which I did 3 different times) and no luck. So I did disable hardware acceleration and I am able to play videos again.

I am just going to forget about the vertical lines not showing up. If it is only on my computer, I am not going to keep worrying about it. Just don't understand what happened the first of this week to make it do that when it has worked up till then.
