header info missing

more options

With the latest update, all the info in the header panel in preview mode is missing. In the past there was a + button to collapse the header between the list of messages and the message itself. With the latest update all the info is missing. It used to show who sent the mail and other info. Now just nothing. No way to even change the settings. Also missing is the ability to back up the emails. We are changing from POP3 to IMAP and before I make the change I need to backup the folders.

OK got out and reloaded. Went in and added the compact header and all is back to normal! I really wish they would stop this almost every time there is an update! Thank you

The complete header is shown when View/Headers is All. Press Alt if the Menu Bar with View is hidden. To toggle the header between All/Normal and a compact form, install the CompactHeader add-on for TB 68.

Backup the entire setup by copying the Thunderbird folder:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

Before changing from POP to IMAP, copy the POP mail to subfolders of Local Folders.

Thank you for the info. I tried the header setting to all and still nothing in the header. Just a blank box. Also attempted the link to the compact header and the link in the page opened an email which was strange. Tried it a few different times and each time it opened a new email with the file as an attachment. Weird.

Also thanks for the IMAP info. I forgot how I did it for my work stuff and wanted to get the wife on board.

Dont like when they push an update and it changes how everything is set up!

Run TB in safe mode (hold Shift when you launch TB) and see if the extended headers appear when you select View/Headers to All.

To install add-ons, see these instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/installing-addon-thunderbird

OK that way seemed to allow me to see the emails in the header! So do I now add the compact header add on? That link only opened a new message.
