Hi. I'm sending this on behalf of someone. She is running the latest Thunderbird for Windows [I checked] on Windows 11. All emails show up correctly when she sees the Emails in her inbox. But when she opens up some messages [no commonality between them], she gets the gibberish as in the attachment. Odd that every message with the issue has the same file name mentioned [IMG_5409.JPG]. If she gets an Email she is fine. She gets another Email and she gets the attached message. Later she could get another Email from the individual and she's fine again. Thoughts? Ed

My thunderbird program today updated itself from 115 to 128. I lost all the data I had. I had two email accounts in the program. After the update it displays one and an empty mailbox and nothing else. Downloading emails to this mailbox does not work.

I have 5 folders in the location “C:\users\appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles” which have 25gigabytes.

What can I do? Is it possible to go back to the old version of the program or restore data?

Messages arriving when the email client is closed are displayed incorrectly when it is opened. Messages received while the program is running are displayed correctly. The screenshot shows incorrect message content.

I have three gmail accounts.

I had a fourth, but started getting Google popup asking for password, but on 2nd screen to fill in password, prompt that it is corrupt / cannot fix (see screenshot)

Now, I deleted that gmail account completely - there are no stray references to it (no identities, no outgoing SMTP server... never used calendar or any google add-ons; never have synchronized with anything re: Google)

Note: The account deleted is not in use - former business and has not been used for 5 years.

Still getting that Google popup.

Yesterday the archived folders showed 2011 2012 2013 to 2024 as individual folders. today none of them are there. All my email was archived in ThunderBird and removed from the server. How can I retrieve them?

I'm on a 6-week old Framework Laptop running Windows 11 (23H2) with Thunderbird 128.3.3esr (64-bit.) The email account is connected via IMAP, no issues sending and receiving. When I open an email and click the little gray 'person' icon to the right of an email address, it does nothing. It just kind of blinks gray as I click it, but does not add the address to my address book as I would expect. Aside from that, it appears that the address book is functioning properly outside of this issue. I was not able to find joy in any of the relevant settings and preferences within Thunderbird.

My old computer has Thunderbird and Windows 10. On that one, I can open an email and click the same little gray "Save this address in the address book" icon from within any email, and it adds it to my address book and turns the gray icon blue as expected.

I even tested on a separate physical machine and the desired operation was experienced. It's only my new laptop that is malfunctioning. Any ideas?

I don't yet want to uninstall and re-install Thunderbird since my IMAP mail folders are plentiful and not small. Furthermore, I'm not ready to wipe the laptop and start fresh, since it's only 6 weeks old and has no spyware/malware...

Is there a way to cleanup perfs.js? I was looking at the file, 3788 lines, that contains printer information for printers that do not exist.

I've been using TB over 24 years and it has grown through four systems. A system replacement involves a new CPU, mother board and C: drive. Data exist on other drives that are moved. Sometimes the content is copied from old drives to newer faster larger drives.

Hi, I got a big problem. I am facing an error in my Thunderbird client, where I dont find an answer on that specific error. I am getting it on Ubuntu 24.04, 24.10, Fedora Workstation 40 and Kubuntu 24.10.

This is the third time I wite a question but got no answer on the previous ones.... I created a mailing list but cannot send mails to it: it does not recognize the name and want à xxxx@yyyy.zz address. Pls help

Just updated. Big mistake!!! The "spam filter was great", now it's not. Your not allowed to complain because all these people work for free to make it great. But, they just have to change a good thing up so they have something to do. I use to get the rare spam mixed into my mail, and no spam in the junk mailbox. Now since a recent change in the last week, I have spam every where. Duplicate spam too! In my in box, in junk mail. It's like Yahoo mail now. Two pieces of mail, and a spam mailbox with 50 pieces of junk mail. This is just like the weird change a couple of years ago when after you deleted your mail, it just showed up again. That's when I was told how ungrateful I was for complaining. All the poor Mozilla patriots, slaving away to make the World a better place. Changing stuff just to be changing stuff! I guess they want to work at Microsoft. Here comes Windows the Dozen. Greatest yet! Why did I push that upgrade Thunderbird button.

P.S. Watch me get called dumb because Mozilla doesn't have anything to do with Thunderbird. Oh, wait, Mozilla took Thunderbird back. I'm safe!

Hello, I installed Thunderbird on a Windows 11 computer and I receive the message to "Set up and Existing email address" When I put in user name, password and email I receive an error message saying the server cannot be found. I also tried deleting and reinstalling the Thunderbird program, but have the same result.

So, how do you put in the needed info to move beyond the error message?

In the decade(s) I've used TB, I've had 3 accounts: 1) Tom Luce; 2) President Hurah; 3) hhecoordinator.

I neve had the problem that has started in the last year (maybe) after I got the Thunderbird revision(?) I will be in my <tomfluce@gmail.com> account and I send a message to a church address: <bfuu-sjc@googlegroups.com> and another address in the same church, <board@bfuu.org> These are multiple addresses for committees. Then I get "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" back in my Acct.3 <hhecoordinator@gmail.com> saying that my email sent to these committees was not delivered because this account doesn't recognize or use the address perhaps because I don't have permission. Well my problem is that why Account #3 <hhecoordinator@gmail.com> is involved at all in my message through Acct. 1)<tomfluce@gmail.com> This has confused me thinking I should try again or I find the individual names of the address of the committees---lots of extra time. Any suggestions about how to separate completely these two accounts? Thanks for all Thunderbird has done for me for so many emails helping a program in Haiti for disenfranchised young people. I have been trying to download Thunderbird for 2 days. When I go to the download site and click download I get the donation page. I donated and it sent me to a "Thank You" page that says "Finish installing, and start enjoying Thunderbird." There is nothing to click on to download the app or setup. I need help getting the program on my computer.

I have Thunderbird set up on both my iPhone 15 pro and my PC (Windows 11). All of a sudden, I have stopped getting the emails on my PC. Last email I received on my PC was on Sep 25. I continue to receive the emails on my phone with no issues.
