Is there a way to make the first Firefox tab a permanent, blank, fixed tab??
I would prefer, as the title implies, LIKE to have my first Firefox tab be a fixed permanent blank tab. In other words, It would never assume the address of the first site I type or click on in the address field, but would act as "an anchor" tab. Is this at all possible??

You can set the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab pref to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing that window and make a close button appear if only one tab is open.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

See - How to set the homepage Then set about:blank as Home Page, with Show my home page selected.
Or you can select Show a blank page from "When Firefox starts:"

Hello Cor-el, many thanks for your reply... I'm going to give this a shot. I seem to remember an add-on extension for doing what I wantto do which was available for a much earlier Firefox version. It may seem lazy, but when I'm in "go mode" while in Firefox I really would appreciate (and earlier appreciated) that fixed blank tab!
