What is the 'click me' logo on my Mozilla home page

more options

My home page has a distorted three dimensional Mozilla logo containing the words "click me". This appeared today for the first time. Is this legitimate or should I be worried?

Does it look like the image I attached? If so, this is nothing to worry about! It is an example of the humble bundle browser games ( https://www.humblebundle.com/?asmjs_bundle&utm_source=Firefox&utm_medium=Snippet1b&utm_campaign=Humble%20Mozilla%20Bundle#asmjs_bundle-time-remaining ).

I don't like having it. How can it be removed?

Today, the COMPUTER CRASHED and a sign came up and said "FIREFOX CRASHED" and offered an option to "send a report to firefox"

How can this application be removed. I am not interested in any games offered. It's also annoying and the image is really distorted. thanks.

lillypad,

Set a different Home Page. That is the easiest way of not seeing those promo's. See - How to set the home page

Thank you. FireFox crashed this morning. Does this new app have anything to do with it? I have not had any crashes recently until this new image and "click me" appeared.

If you prefer not to see the snippets on the about:home page or otherwise experience problems with a snippet then you can set the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to an empty string on the about:config page. Delete the storage\persistent\moz-safe-about+home folder in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Exit/Quit) to remove snippets stored in IndexedDB and make Firefox use a default snippet set. You can reset the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref via the right-click context menu to the default value to re-enable the snippets and make Firefox recreate the moz-safe-about+home folder. You need to close and restart Firefox after changing the value of the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

The offending graphic and 'Click' me' link ARE ON THE DEAULT FIREFOX HOMESCREEN (yes, I'm shouting) and this is Firefox's own doing. I started using the default FF home screen (with Google search bar) after experiencing major slowdowns with Google's stupid gif Doodles. Now I'm getting the same slowdowns from Firefox, the dirty sellouts. I'm fed up having to fix the things Google and Mozilla break. It's the same thing trying to find addons or extensions . . . AGAIN to fix things major , **trusted** entities break. Utterly fed up.. Sick of it, even I just checked and the 'click me' screen is back -- not back, it never went away. Firefox, I don't give a damn about games so don't stuff them in my face. Maybe it's time for Chrome. For ALL of us.
