Hi, I'm having trouble with flash player not being recognized by certain player apps... On Facebook when there is a video showing on my newsfeed it just shows three little lines pulsing in the middle but it dosen't play. Now, I can go to the page where the video is and play it but not on my news feed. Also I cannot play Pandora as it tells me I need the latest flash player which I know that I have but it isn't recognizing it. I have uninstalled flash player, reinstalled it .. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it .. I have also refreshed Firefox and it still dosen't work with those particular applications.. I have also gone to plugins and made sure that it shows that it's enabled and all the players are.. I have adobe flash and shockwave installed.. One thing that is curious though is that when I check to see if my flashplayers are updated in my plugins it comes up and tells me that Shockwave is vulnerable and needs to be updated but when I click on it and update it ... It shows that it worked but then it dosen't reflect that in my plugin update... HELP PLZ !!  :)

I would advise that you do NOT follow instructions from someone's blog page or download software from unknown websites. If you need help with installing, uninstalling, or troubleshooting Flash, start here:

Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems.

The above article includes a link to Adobe's instructions for uninstalling Flash but that may not help if you are only having problems with certain websites and Flash is working OK on other sites.

Adobe also has its own Flash player help pages, if you want to check them out.

As for updating your plugins, the Plugin Check page has links to get to the plugin provider's website, which is where you should see if you have the latest plugins. The PluginCheck page may not have the latest information.

You have quite a large number of plugins. The one you need for Flash Player (The Flash plugin from Adobe) is this one: Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0. The Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.1.5.155 is a separate plugin which you don't need for Flash content. See http://www.adobe.com/products/shockwaveplayer.html and http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer.html for details.

I also see another plugin called "Flash" (?) which may not be what you think it is (see Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware) so at the very least I would disable it in the Add-ons manager by setting it to "Never Activate".

I also see various Real Player plugins which can interfere with Flash. My suggestion is to temporarily disable all plugins except for Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0 and then try those sites again. See Fix common audio and video issues and Disable or remove Add-ons under How to disable plugins.

@pricklypear

I have a BAT file script that will uninstall any flash versions, clean up any old flash files, download the latest from adobe website, install it, and remove the install files.

I cant guarantee it will resolve your specific issue, but worth a try

It is written in BAT code so you can see what is going on.

The directions are simple, and easy to use and located here:
