I am constantly getting "not responding" messages. These happen at various times, sometimes right after I start and sometimes after several minutes. Sometimes restarting stops them for a while but they keep returning. This is very annoying. The trouble started after I got a new computer with Windows 8, before I had Windows 7 and everything worked fine.Is there anything I can do for this or do I just have to wait until Windows 10 is released?

Try typing about:crashes in the url bar. Do you see any recent crash reports? If you do, can you please copy and paste the id's of the crash reports (not the reports themselves) into the forum (id's should start with bp-)?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
